Hello everyone, my name is Alicia Jones and I'm from Las Vegas, Nevada. My major is Network Security and my expected graduation date is May 2026. This is my first year learning about IT, before I was interested in the medical field. IT sparked my interest because it's a continually growing field. It's important to know how it works because it will forever be a part of our everyday lives. I'm truly excited for this new learning and career opportunity and anxious to see where it takes me.
The first impression of IS101 was overwhelming because there were over 50 Canvas assignments just from this class. That initially made me want to procrastinate doing the work. However, now I see it's really just a lot of reading tasks and labs. The assignments are lengthy which can be intimidating at first glance, but once you read through it carefully and not overthink it starts to make sense. I believe this class will have an overall improvement on my digital etiquette.
I am very experienced when it comes to social media platforms. I am 22 so I was able to see the evolution of brands like Apple and how their apps have changed. I have also been on social media since I was about 12 so to see how much it has changed in only 10 years is interesting. In high school, I ran our Instagram account for Black Student Union and I would post weekly updates and information. I've had no choice but to learn how to work social media apps since it's one of the most popular forms of entertainment. With the emergence of AI, I can't wait to see what new platforms will be created.
The information technology field sparked your interest, excellent!
ReplyDeleteI love your sentence "...but once you read through it carefully and not overthink, it starts to make sense" :-)
Had to learn how to work social media apps? I am sure you ran the Instagram account for the Black Student Union well.
Yes, IS101-3210, Fall 2025 will elevate your digital literacy and netiquette, Alicia Jones ^_^
Hey Alicia,
ReplyDeleteNetwork Security is a great field. I have a couple of friends in cybersecurity, and they love it. I agree with you about IS101; the course was very overwhelming at the beginning, but it started to become manageable with time. It seems that you have a positive mindset towards social media and technological advancement. Many people my age or older are a little skeptical with technological advancement, but like with everything else, we must adapt. It was great meeting you, Alicia!
Hi Alicia, I am so glad to hear that you found something you are interested in. Finding what you like and want to pursue long term can be hard.
ReplyDeleteIt is very true that brands are continuously evolving. With the speed at which AI is growing I am eager to see just how social media will change in the near future.
ReplyDeleteHello Alicia! What part of Network Security are you planning to get into after you graduate? Interesting you were initially intrigued by the medical field, what interested you the most during that time? I am currently going for Radiology Tech and possibly a Radiologist later in life. However, that is as far as my interest for in the medical field goes. Becoming a nurse or surgeon seems too stressful for me.
ReplyDeleteHello, Alicia. Network security seems like a great major. I agree that the assignments seem intimidating at first glance.
ReplyDeleteHi Alicia, Great introduction! Your passion for network security and how you connected technology´s evolution to your own experience.
ReplyDeleteHey Alicia! what part in the medical field did you took interest in before you decided to take part in Network Security? what inspires you to continue pursing Network Security? and what are some of your hobbies you do in your free time?
ReplyDeleteHey Alicia,
ReplyDeleteI agree that it is important yo learn some IT since we live in a world that revolves around technology.
Hi Alicia, IT is continuously evolving, which is great for a lot of people; whether they agree or not, it opens the job field a lot more than people might realize. I'm with you on that; hopefully it improves our digital literacy.
